What If Your Routine Made You Stronger?

September has always felt like a reset to me.

The days get shorter.

The kids are back in school.

Summer vacations are over.

And life starts settling back into a familiar routine.

There's nothing wrong with routine. In fact, good routines are one of the most powerful tools we have for creating a healthy life.

But there's a problem.

Sometimes we go back to the same routines simply because they're easy.

Football is on.

There's a new series to binge.

A movie we've been waiting for comes out.

We sit down for "just one episode"...

And three hours later, we're still sitting there.

It's easy entertainment.

And there's nothing wrong with enjoying it.

But it got me thinking:

What if we entertained ourselves with improving our lifestyle?

What if instead of always asking, "What do I want to watch tonight?"

We occasionally asked:

"What do I want to be able to do five years from now?"

Maybe it's hiking that trail you've always wanted to hike.

Playing with your grandchildren without getting exhausted.

Traveling without worrying about whether your body can handle it.

Getting down on the floor and being able to get back up.

Carrying your own luggage.

Playing golf.

Riding your bike.

Or simply waking up every morning feeling strong, capable, and confident in your body.

Those things don't happen by accident.

They are the result of the things we do repeatedly.

And that's where September can be powerful.

It's an opportunity to look at the routines we've slipped back into and ask:

Are these habits moving me toward the life I want or simply making life easier today?

George Bernard Shaw said:

"Progress is impossible without change, and those that cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

I love that quote because change doesn't necessarily mean doing something extreme.

Sometimes change is simply deciding to do something differently.

Take a walk after dinner.

Go to the gym instead of watching another episode.

Eat a little better.

Go to bed a little earlier.

Spend an hour with people who make you better.

Put down the phone.

Pick up a kettlebell.

The goal isn't to eliminate the things you enjoy.

It's to make sure your enjoyment doesn't come at the expense of the life you want.

Because your lifestyle is being built every day.

One choice at a time.

One workout at a time.

One meal at a time.

One habit at a time.

And here's the good news:

You don't have to change everything.

You just have to change something.

Then do it again tomorrow.

That's how progress happens.

That's how strength is built.

And that's how we create a life we're capable of enjoying for a very long time.

So as we head into September, I'd encourage you to ask yourself one question:

What is one thing I could change this month that would make my life better?

Maybe I can help.

If you've been thinking about getting stronger, moving better, improving your health, or simply getting back into a routine, I'd love to sit down and talk with you.

You can schedule a free Strategy Session with me and we'll figure out where you are, where you want to go, and what it will take to get there.

No pressure.

Just a conversation.

Because at Forever Young Studios, we're not interested in simply helping you exercise.

We're helping you build Strength for Life.

And that's a pretty good way to spend an hour.

Stay strong,

Coach Justin
